If you have the agreement in writing, or some other substantial proof of the existence of the agreement, then this matter can be handled fairly efficiently. For a free consultation, contact us directly.

Re: Ex spouse agreed to pay tax liens

Ex spouse? Or ex boyfriend/girlfriend? It will make a difference.

If this is an ex spouse, you need to look at the agreement between you and your ex that was entered into as part of the divorce. Presumably, there will be a court order that was entered requiring your ex to resolve this issue. To enforce this provision of the agreement, you go back into the family court and seek an order compelling your ex to do it. There are a variety of remedies available, depending upon the circumstances. You should consult a family law attorney experience with this type of dispute.

If this is an ex boyfriend/girlfriend, then it will depend upon what the agreement between you two provides. Presumably, there is a written agreement that dictates how to resolve the matter. You will likely have to resort to civil court to get the matter resolved. We are real property litigators familiar with contractual issues in this area. If/when you are ready to proceed, please call or email.
