Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Labor Certification

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am being petitioned right now as a Nurse by my employer as a Labor Certification recipient for my green card. I just want to ask if I can start a business on the side at the same time while I am being petitioned. Can I also earn income that way as a self-employed? And also the kind of business is different than what i am being petitioned for.

Thank you very much for all the responses.

Re: Labor Certification

Until you get your actuall Green Card you can not be self employed. Once your I-485/I-140 is approved you could start a business even if you don't have the actual approved green card.
