Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I have a question about renewing my Legal Permanent Residence card which will expire on October 2011. I know I have to fill out some kind of application, however my main concern is about an incident that I was involved in. On May 2009 I was a passenger while my sister in law was driving she doesn't have a legal status and we got pulled over for no particular reason, basically just to verify that she had a license, when the police officer saw that she didn't have a license he said we were going to be turned in to immigration, I of course was legal but did not have my residence card with me or any of my documents and to make a long story short, I being so scared and frightened and because i was so immensely nervous declared myself to be illegal and gave another name, my fingerprints were taken and I was deported out of the country. I then came in again with my residence card and now I don't know how much this will affect me at the time of renewing my card, should I renew it?
