Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in California

I am 16 and my friend is 15, 16 in October. My parents are divorced and my mother has legal custody. I spend most of my time with my dad, however. My family owns a condo that no one is living in, and my friend and I would like to move in to the condo. Our parents all agree that we are mature enough to take care of ourselves and essentially do. However, my mother wants to know if this is legal. We live in Orange County, California. Thank you very much for helping to clear this up.

I support young love and I wish you all the best. The world is full of busybodies, some of whom are government employees. My best guess is that your situation is not without risk. I assume that you are a heterosexual couple. Any sexual relationship you may have prior to both of you attaining age 18 is of questionable legality; and if you were to get pregnant or have a baby all bets are off. Getting married will help. Good luck.
