I called off sick using sick time provided by my job and then after my work hours volunteered coached a football game. My employer said I can't do this is this true

What's true is that not only are there no laws against 'unfair treatment' by management, but in general, unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or terminated any time for any reason, with or without �cause�, explanation or notice. On top of that, you gave them 'cause' for discipline or termination by getting caught lying about being too sick to work.

Your employer is correct. If you were healthy enough to coach football, you were healthy enough to go to work and calling in sick to collect sick pay amounts to fraud on your employer. Consider yourself lucky if all they do is dock your vacation pay or give you an unpaid day off.
