Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I was charged with a misdeamor of assault/domestic in RI in 2005. I pleaded nolo and had no further trouble since. I am in CA and have to go to dept of justice fingerprinting for a job. With this show up on the background check? if it does i will not be eligeble for the job

Of course it will show up. All arrests and all convictions 'show up' on your record. That's why they call it a 'permanent record' kept by DOJ. Contact a RI attorney to see if they have anything like CA's expungement process. If so, it won't help you this time, but could help in the future. It generally takes weeks or months to process.
