Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Can my employer lower my hourly wage without discussing it with me prior?
it cannot be based on my retail stores location numbers because since I've been there my performance has consistently increased sales numbers every month for over a year.

An employer can increase, decrease or terminate your hourly pay at any time for any reason other than illegal discrimination, such as race. Your performance gives you no particular right to any pay rate. It can go down and they can give you a raise, it can go up and they are free to lower it or fire you. The only limitation is they cannot lower your rate of pay for work done before they notify you. So if you have been getting $25/hr and a new half-month pay period started 9/16, and on 9/17 they tell you your new pay will be $15/hr, they have to pay you $25/hr for 9/16 and 17, but they are free to pay you $15/hr after that.
