Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I'm an experienced marketing professional just fired in California and replaced by a contractor to save the company money. I understand this is legal. How long before the company can hire that person as my in-house replacement?

Any time, unless there is some contract in place with a staffing agency or other contractual agreement involving the contractor that inhibits hiring him or her directly. If they are an independent free-lance contractor, they could become an employee any they and the company agree.
