Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Loss of health benefits

A friend of mine who works full time in a small business has been covered by employer sponsored health benefits until recently when his employer stopped paying for the plan. This would seem to leave my friend in a very precarious circumstance. What if any recourse might my friend have?

Companies are entitled to drop benefits with notice. If they simply quit paying for premiums, that is different, and could make them liable for medical expenses. Have him contact me if the latter and he has substantial unpaid medical bills.
