Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I have been a nurse for 18 years at Kaiser Perm OBGYN I am posssibly being terminated for viewing a patient medical record without managements approval. However, I was involved in this patients care during an emergency situation. This is a clinic of which in incident of this kind has never happened before and with no existing policy and procedure on record. I wanted to make sure I could remember the facts and review the incident for what they initilly said was for a UOR All performace evaluations have been excelllent and I have never even been written up I legt on 11-9-11 and on disability for htn anxiety and depression from this incident. I have read that AMA requires that the patient be notified of a breech within 60 days. If that is not done what is their liability? Is there a violation for reviewing a chart of a patient I cared for?

As I understand Kaiser, you are in a union. If so, a grievance would be your ONLY remedy for discipline and termination issues. File one and seek their guidance on validity of the accusations against you.
