Legal Question in Employment Law in California

after reporting sexual harassment and hostile environment at work (first verbally, a week later in writing) I was told by HR that that is the way it and nothing was done. I was told there is no other position i could be moved to and they are pretty much forcing me to quit. Is this legal? what should i do?

What you are describing is not legal, and you may be entitled to damages for sexual harassment, hostile environment in the workplace, and constructive termination (which is where the employer places you in a position where you have no choice but to quit).

Before taking any steps, you should consult with an employment attorney. Most will not charge for that consultation. My offices are in Century City and Santa Barbara, and I work with a network of attorneys who handle these kinds of cases. Feel free to call me to discuss. 800-988-4807.

IF you make valid good faith claims of illegal discrimination, harassment, hostile environment, then the company is obligated to investigate, and to take appropriate remedial action to protect you from further harm. That may include discipline or termination of the culprit, separation of you two, etc. If they fail to do so, retaliate against you, force you to quit, etc., you may have grounds for a lawsuit. If that is the case, feel free to contact me, I've been doing these cases for over 20 years.
