Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Retirement Lump Sum Overpayment

I recently retired after working 30 years for the State of California. I was given a lump sum payment for the balance of my accrued leave credits.

I recntly received a letter from my former State agency and was informed they (State agency) made a mistake by over paying me when they issued my lump sum payment check. After being retired for over a year, the State agency is now asking for repayment (they admit it was their mistake). What legal recourse do I have?
