Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Scheduled to work, then fired

I work part time for an Event Service, and about 2 weeks ago I got a full time job as a concierge (35-40 hrs per wk) The first 2 weeks were suppose to be my training period. On my second week which was Monday May 7, 2007 I went to work and my supervisor was telling me what my work orders were going to be for that day when, I told him that I had lost my driver's license the night before at my part time job but that, that supervisor had called me in the morning to say he had found it, but I didn't have time to pick it up. That was when my supervisor at my full time job fired me. My question is this....Since I went to work with the intention of working shouldn't they still have to pay me? And are there time limitations for filing on employment issues? Thank you for any help

Re: Scheduled to work, then fired

You are entitled to report pay if you appear for work and no work is provided - one half of your scheduled hours with a minimum of 2 hours and a maximum of 4 hours.

As to time limits, yes, there are time limits for all employment claims. You will need to be more specific as to the claims you might have if you are trying to determine the time limits applicable.
