Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I started a new job last September, and was then asked to fill out the I-9 form. Although not born here, I am a citizenship of the US. During this time I am in the process of replacing my naturalization papers due to them being lost. During the time of hire, I presented documents verifying my identity and my eligibility to work( column b and c of form i-9). Now a year later my employer is demanding I bring in documents from Column A. Does the employer have the right to choose which documents are brought in to verify eligibility to work?

Employers have the 'right' to demand anything they like, with rare exceptions. You have the right to refuse and be terminated.
