Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Unfair Termination

I followed my boss when he started his own company. When I made the decision to come and work for him, one of my questions was about being layed off if work stopped coming in. He told me that I would always work for him, and if work did slow down, he would find something for me to do. I have a clean employee file, no write ups for performace, and have been given good reviews and raises. Now it is 3 years later, and I am getting the distinct feeling I am about to be fired. My annual review is 2 weeks late, and I have found resumes from applicants applying for my position. If I am fired, do I have any sort of recourse?
