Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Contract, co-signer, 50 miles

My father co-signed for my apartment, and I signed a year lease with management. I chose this specific apartment because I was very close to my job, like 3 minutes away. My car isn't the best so I was going to ride my bike. After a month or so, I got transfered to our other location which is 50 miles away. Is there anything I can do to get out of the lease with out having it effect my father's credit? Also, on top of this, during my walkthru, and I have documentation, it was stated that my sink would be fixed, the sprayer nozzle is broken, and it hasn't been touched.

Since you signed a year lease you and your father are responsible for a year's rent. You can look for a new tenant to take over the lease. The landlord can reject a new tenant who does not meet the landlord's normal qualification requirements.

If you just move out, the landlord must look for a new tenant and you have to pay the rent and costs of finding a new tenant. When a new tenant moves in your rent obligation stops. The landlord can't collect twice for the same apartment.
