Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Can I get my deposit back if I was evicted? I vacated the premises on a 3 day notice and left the place looking better than when I moved in. I didn't break the contract.....they evicted me because of the nature of my business, even though they knew the nature of my business when they leased it to me (I provided them with my CA business license number and information)

Maybe. It depends on what the eviction was for. If it was based on any violation of the lease, they are entitled to keep as much of the deposit as it takes to compensate them for lost rent until they get another tenant to start paying rent. If there is anything left after that, they owe it back to you.
