Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

There was an incident in the apartment above and that made our apartment inhabitable. The landlord said that the repairs would take 2-3 weeks and the insurance took care of a temporary hotel for the time being.

Now my landlord says that I need to move out as the repairs will take 3 months and has offered a place at considerably higher rent to move in. What are my options? What are the landlords responsibilities since my lease is still valid?

Your lease probably has a clause that provides for the landlord to terminate it if damage to the unit is too extensive. If so, you can only take their offer or find a new place.
