If you are truly doing this for friends and not running a daycare, or even a periodic babysitting business, the landlord can probably not prevent you from doing so. If, however, you are charging for this service, and it is more akin to running a business from the apartment, you need to check your lease and/or apartment rules and regulations to see if there is a prohibition against operating a business from your apartment. You would be best served to have the situation reviewed by a local attorney who handles landlord-tenant matters. Good luck.
