Probably one of the better resources for a non-attorney attempting to represent themselves are books published by Nolo Press. They are available to purchase online, or some libraries carry them. Unless you want to do research like an attorney at the County Law Library, these books help to distill complicated legal matters for non-attorneys. Their website is www.nolo.com.
