Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I have someone who has been living in my home for over a year. He has never paid a dime of rent or utilities. He threatens me and assaults me regularly. I am a prisoner in my own home. I have asked the police to have him leave and they say that he is a tenant. He steals and is a drug addict. I can't take any more of his nonsense. The police department here is a joke and they don't do anything.

You need to go to court for a Domestic Violence and Harassment Restraining Order to have him removed from the house and ordered to keep away from you. The Self Help office of the Superior Court can help you with what you need to file.
