I moved in my apartment over 6 months ago and was not charged a security deposit.I'm in San Bernardino county, Ca. Can my landlord decide she wants a security deposit now?

Was this security deposit part of your contract to enter into the lease agreement with the landlord? If not so, then the landlord is asking you for more than you both already agreed to in said original agreement. Are you receiving any additional benefit in return for providing this deposit?
