Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I was renting a modular home. I had a hud inspection where they noticed soft spots in the floors.after the owners came and investigated they found numerous leaks under the home.they had to do a number of repairs in the home.i lived there and continued to pay rent through two and a half months worth of rentavations.shortly after I put in my thirty day notice.it wasn't till after I moved out and they gave me a disposition of my deposit that they said I owed them 3800 for the repairs and they were keeping my deposit.could i legally be responsible for these repairs

Sure you could, or maybe you are not. Timing doesn't determine liability. Either you bear responsibility for what happened or you don't. There is no way to tell from here.
