Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Unlawful Detainer Appeal on money judgment

Hello,

A judgment was just handed against me and I want to know my options on appealing the money judgment portion. I haven't received the actual document, but I called the court, so I want to get started on this immediately. I was a Resident Manager and did not have to pay rent, but they served me with a 3 day notice to surrender premises. I believe there may be grounds for an appeal as I never signed a lease or any other document stating I had to pay rent, although a rent credit was applied to my salary. Please help. Thanks.

Re: Unlawful Detainer Appeal on money judgment

We would need to know a bit more about your case, the dollar amount awarded against you, what jurisdictional court heard the case, etc...If this is a small claims case per se, you can file a motion to vacate to set aside the judgment based on erroneous application of the law, or file an appeal within the designated timeframe. So, if you would like prompt, affordable legal assistance in this matter, contact us directly today for a free phone consultation.
