Atty asked for wrong amount

Our lawyer filed our case wrong only put in in our sons name instead of all of us, negoiated a settlement for an amount too low without consulting us. Now wont go back and ask for what we want. Doesnt want to harm her ''reputation''. What do you suggest we do with her? Fire her and get new lawyer? Doesnt want to take it to trial either. Trial date was set for Nov 17, 2003. Running out of time. Any thougths. Could we go to the judge without a lawyer and ask for a settlement?
