Legal professionalism

Mediation completed, settlement agreed, papers signed. There are 3 people involved,however, the person who initially contacted the lawyer is is jail. Does the lawyer have the right to hold what is due to the other 2 clients until the third is released?

in order to answer your question, i would need an email summary of the nature of the agreement between all 3 of you and your attorney. further, i would need to see a copy of this attorney-client agreement to see the wording and stipulations therein. finally, let me know the amount in question being held from you and what the attorney's position is as to why he/she feels that funds cannot be divided up until the 3rd person is released from jail. how long is the 3rd person's jail sentence for as well?
