Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California

Taking my dad off life support

Is it legal for a hospital to call you and tell you to come down your daad is dying when I walked in they had taken him off life support and he was blue reaching for me and died in my arms. This I think is stemming from a question they had asked me if they could do a brain scan eaaarlier that week and I said well that depends on whether or not that would interfer with my dads ssituation here and assked them what really was going on and they said they needed more room and I said no they could brain scan him but supposdly they did that day they called me to tell me to come see him and I want no money from this just enough to pay my lawyer but I want to know can I sue this asshole and send him to jail for a criminal act like murder?

I'm so sorry to hear about this situation. There is not enough information here for an attorney to give you sufficient information. An attorney will have to review all of his recent medical records, his living will (if any), telephone logs of the hospital, etc. An attorney could take the case on contingency if a knowledgeable medical reviewer opines, after reviewing all of these records, that what the doctor or hospital did fell below the standard of care. An attorney might ask you for at least some costs up front including the costs of obtaining the records and for the medical records review.

Re: Taking my dad off life support

At first glance it looks like what the doctor and hospital did was wrong. However, there are still a lot of gaps in the fact pattern that must be filled. Give me a call and we can talk about what happened. If I can't help you, then I can refer you to somebody who can. 1-800-999-HURT.
