You are asking the community to judge the qualifications of another lawyer whom we do not know, although if that lawyer only practiced dependency law all his career, then his qualifications might be called to question. All I can say is to do your research.

Suing the city or the county for wrongful death requires knowledge, experience, skill and a well funded legal team. Ask your lawyer if he/she has that. Ask your lawyer if/she has actually done any such trials.

Our last such case resulted in a seven figure verdict. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Sorry for your loss.

I agree with Mr. Lupoff and Mr. Tashjian that CPS cases are very different from police shooting cases, and require different types of expertise. There probably are some lawyers who could competently handle both types of cases. I have no idea whether this particular lawyer is one of them. You should look into his qualifications if you haven't already.

But what you seem to be asking is whether the lawyer would have a conflict of interests. I don't see one in the facts you've provided. County governments are separate from city governments. That's true even for the county in which the city is located. Besides, if the lawyer represents families in litigation *against* the county's CPS department, he isn't working *for* the county as you say.

Of course, my answer is based only on the limited information you've given us. If I knew more about your case and/or about the lawyer, I might see things very differently.

Good luck.
