Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

An auction date for the sale of my home is only a few weeks away. In CA, are lenders or real estate agents legally obligated to work with buyers to discuss ways to avoid foreclosure? I'd like to take advantage of the Mortgage Reinstatement Assistance Program (MRAP) that exists in this state, but I need some time. Neither my real estate agent nor my lender have mentioned this program. While searching the internet, I found out about the MRAP just be chance. Thanks for your response.

No one is obligated to tell you how to deal with your financial problems. It is up to each person to look for the options available to them. Many lenders choose to refer borrowers to programs that may help them, but that is only because lenders usually lose money on foreclosures, not because they have a legal obligation to help.
