I am buying out my spouse in a divorce

settlement. How do I change the title as sole owner?

I assume you are talking about a house, or other real property. Change of record title will require preparing, executing and recording a deed. If there is financing on the property, I'd recommend discussing the situation with the lender first, so you don't trigger any "due on sale" clause in the loan agreement. Preparing, etc. a deed is outside the usual know-how range for the average homeowner, and I'd recommend getting assistance from a lawyer, broker, or title company.
