I filed a suit againist my landlord for property distroyied in a fire. I judge said that the statue of limitations ran out on my claim of Negilence..... Is there anything else I do to recovery monies for my losses. Another Claim???? A different angle. They also charged me for cleaning up the mess that the fire caused..... There must be some way that I can recoop some of my losses.

If your landlord is sueing you, you can assert the affirmative defense of offset and set-off. If your landlord already has a judgment against you, you can file bankruptcy. If it has been less than 3 years since your loss, you can claim a catastrophic loss on your income tax return and get a refund.

If you sued, you are probably barred from another suit on the theory of SPLITTING CAUSES OF ACTION.
