Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

My ex girlfriend was living with in my condo and I just broke up with her. She never paid me one cent for almost 4 years of living together. I also have documented trasactions that she is financially responsible for, which she has never paid me for. Her mom bought a furniture set for us and asked only that I pay $400, so I did. She also bought a washer and dryer. Now she is asking that I pay for the full amount of the bedroom set and the washer and dryer. Are there legal repurcutions if I do not pay?

I assume it is the mother who is asking for greater payment; your ex-girlfriend has no legal right to do so. Unless the mother conditioned the giving of the items on your remaining with her daughter, she made a gift to you and can not go back on her word since your reasonably relied to your detriment on what she told you and she knew that you would.
