Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

I had a lawyer representing me pro-bono years ago. I can't seem to get back in touch w/him, he may of retired?? Here's short version, owned a house, lost my job, fell behind on payments, went into default, then foreclosure. Needed appx $20K to get out of auction block. Fake fraudulent "Investors" called FREEDOM SOLUTIONS LLC came to help me. They would put up the $20K, if I agreed to list home for sale, then once it sells, they would get the $20K back plus a % or $ (dont remember) for doing it + expenses for cleaning/having house ready too show. I agreed wrote up contract signed, etc. House sold for over$350K, after all was paid I was too receive appx $67K back. They went to Jamaica with it, I NEVER saw a dime. Even after lawyer found them wrote up another contract they offered me $10K I was desperate said yes. The never showed up to court or sign second contract. I want my money. That ruined my life & credit. I was homeless for years. I at least want a judgement. They did this to a lot of people from Sacramento threw Central Valley to Modesto. They were only getting a slap on the hand in court. What can I do. I am POOR, on SSI now and renting a place. Please help, thank you

Very sorry; we cannot handle questions naming potential defendants.

Contact an attorney. My colleague is correct that we are not allowed to take-on questions that name possible defendants. Sorry about that.

Sorry, but if this was "years ago" and the bad guys fled the country, what realistically did you think you could do now??

You had three years from the close of escrow to file 'fraud' lawsuit for damages, and four years to file 'breach of contract' lawsuit for damages. Sounds like you are way late for either, and the statute of limitations has run out. That also includes the limits of time you had to pursue and 'perfect a judgment' by default or otherwise.

Even a 'timely' filed lawsuit against foreign located defendants is likely a waste of time and your money.

It doesn't sound like you can be helped, other than counseled to 'move on with your life', unfortunate as that is to hear.
