Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Liability for damaged sewer/drainage & termite problem

We bought a house 4 months ago. Just found out that main drainage pipes were damaged and near collapse. Drainage clogs easily every 1-2 weeks. Not reported by inspector or previous owner. Are they liable?

Termite inspection was OK. Discovered termite infestation after 3 months. Inspector claims he is not responsible, inspection was visual only. What options/course of action is available?

Thank you.

Re: Liability for damaged sewer/drainage & termite problem

It seems likely the former owner knew of the drainage problem and it should likely have been disclosed. This may infer they might have known of termite problem, however, termite problem not as likely known by seller.

If the pest inspection company certified that the property was free of infestation, they would have liability.

Not sure what drainage pipes you are talking about, so can't really answer that question.
