Your rights vs. the new owner are the same as they were with the previous owner, UNLESS your rental agreement contained specific language to the contrary, which would be rather unusual in a residential rental agreement. In other words, if you had a two-year lease with 11 months remaining with the prior owner, you now have a two-year lease with 11 months remaining with the new owner. More likely than not, however, I'd think you are a month-to-month tenant rather than a lessee, in which case the new owner (like the former owner) can terminate you by giving 30 or 60 days notice depending upon how long you've been a tenant there. Last time I researched the subject -- several years ago -- there were no hardship exceptions for disabled persons, but this may have changed -- maybe another LawGuru attorney knows.
