Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California

Hello,

My boyfriend a couple years ago had sexual encounters with a girl that was 16 when he was 20. Her parents found out, and have had a warrant for his arrest for a year now. What I am wondering is if there is anyway that she can drop the charges when she turns 18. Because they are saying that he raped her, while she has talked to me and told me that it wasn't like that at all. She should be turning 18 sometime kind of soon, so we were just wondering if there is any hope? If not, what exactly does he have in store for him when he gets arrested? How much jail time could he face? Will be become a registered sex offender?

We have been waiting a year now, waiting in hopes everything will be dropped, but I just want to know what to expect if he gets caught before anything can happen. This is his first offense ever, so would that be a lighter sentence? Please help me!

Your boyfriend needs to see a criminal defense attorney who specializes in this type of offense. Since she was a minor at the time of the sexual intercourse, he is guilty of statutory rape even if she was the one who wanted to have sex. I wonder why the warrant was not served in a year.

This is a criminal law question, not sexual harassment.
