Legal Question in Social Security Law in California
SSDI dependents benefits
I have been on Social Security for over 15 years and first appointed a conservator who applied on my behalf. I was under 22 at the time. A couple years later, I had a daughter and got married. I still received benefits, most likely SSDI for the insurance. Eventually had 2 more children and they never received benefits till 2003 when left my care to live with family. In '03, I received SSI and state disability, prior to this on SSDI shouldn't they be eligible from birth?

Re: SSDI dependents benefits
Hello!
Your minor children should have eligibility. Other issues are whether or not you are married (familial income applies) and what your asset level might be.
But generally, your kids are in fact eligible. Keep at it you will eventually get the benefits. Be the squeaky wheel--go to a Soc Sec office and have an audience with a supervisor if necessary. Be nice, but vocal.
