inheritance taxes

If were to inherit money would I if have to pay taxes on it and if so would it be federal and state or just one of them?

You would not have to pay any taxes, the estate would pay them. If you received notice by email of your "inheritance," or anybody tells you you have to pay something in advance, it is a scam.
