Legal Question in Tax Law in California

I live in California. Why does the federal form ask for the amount I received from social security for the year 2008? Since social security is not taxable, I'm just wondering why the federal form asks for this information. I hope to hear from you soon.

That was funny. Social Security is taxable depending on income. We do tax returns and Wills and Trusts and have been doing so for over 25 years. Let us know if we can help
