examples of next-of-kin proof documents

My dad just recently passed away

overseas, and I need to prove that

I'm next-of-kin in order to process his

death certificate. What are some of

the examples of next-of-kin proof

documents? We don't have a will nor

birth certificate. (We're U.S. citizens,

but I was born overseas, and I think

my parents have lost my birth

certificate already.) Will Social

Security agency have the info. to

prove our father-daughter

relationship? Or is there any other

government agency keep this kind of

record where I can access?
