How to locate a read will

Hi, I am trying to locate my great grandparents will, I had recieved a call when I was 15yrs. old telling me I was to recieve $45,000.00 from my great grandparents, and part of the sale from a condo they owned and a few other things, well now I am 34 and all I have been told by my family that they miss read the will, I was also told that if I try to find the will I would only recieve a dollar. My whole family has a different story and NO one will show me anything from my great grandparents. I lived with them when I was real young and I remember them telling me not to let anyone take what is left to me, now I know what they meant. Can you help? I do have all the info for them possible BD/DD SS# ect. Thank You for your time.

Re: How to locate a read will

A will must be filed with the clerk in the county in which the person died.

Locate the county where your greatgrandfather and mother lived, and contact the probate clerk's office. They will be able to tell you whether a will was ever filed.

If the will(s) was filed, it is a matter of public record. The clerk will then let you know how much it would be to obtain a copy.

Good luck to you.
