Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Hello, I received an inheritance from my aunt and my father was made the trustee. I am now 18 and would like to attend college, but my father refuses to aid me financially in relocation and with college tuition fees. Is there anything I can do? I just want enough money to move, rent an apartment, and pay for tuition and other school related things.

Without knowing the terms of the trust, it is impossible to know what can be done.

You will need to take the trust document to an attorney, discuss your situation, and obtain advice as to how to work with your father on this.

I agree that an attorney will need to review the Trust because the language of the Trust will determine what your father can or should be doing as your Trustee. Most trusts would require distribution of income to you and a limited right to invade the principal of the trust for things like health and education. In addition, the Trustee is also supposed to provide you with an annual accounting of the trust income and expenses.
