Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Will and Trust

If a will has gone through probate I understand it becomes public record.

How and when may a family member find and read the document?

Respectfully, LK

Re: Will and Trust

A will that has been probated is lodged with the court. Go to the court were the probate case was, go to the records department, look up the case number (if you don't already know it), and ask to review the file. Some courts have records available online, which can be retrieved for a fee. You can do an Internet search for the county's superior court. If the file is old, you may have to go to archives.
