Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

The following is written in an agreement and release in full of all claims: "that this is a compromise settlement of a doubtful and disputed claim, and that the payment of the consideration for this release shall not be deemed or construed as an admission of liability or of money owed on the party of any and all of the releases herein described, but on the contrary, any such liability is expressly denied."

What does this mean in layman terms??

No one is admitting anything, despite what others might think or say. Even though I pay some money, it's not an admission that I did something wrong.

It means that even though they are paying you off, they are not admitting any liability.
