Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

I was injured at my nanny job a couple weeks ago--the girl hit me in the face with a volleyball at close range (I had just been looking behind me and was turning my head when it happened), and it threw my neck out and has caused migraines almost every day since then, plus pain that goes down to my hips. Since I'm a household employee and I'm on their payroll, I feel it is my right to ask for help with the chiropractic payments. My chiropractor advised that it's possible they could find reasons to hire me because of it, and obviously I don't want that to happen. I would also like to proceed as peacefully as possible. Any tips are welcome, thanks!
