Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Too late to be workers comp?

I have carpel tunnel and have been treated for over a year.My job is all fine motor and obviously is the cause. However it has never been billed as workers comp. I am now going to have surgery on both wrists and my boss says it cant be work comp because it has never been billed that way for previous treatment.
