Legal Question in Employment Law in Canada

Employer Changing Time Clock

Is it legal for a company to change the time clock to read what will look better to head office, therefore each employee losing out on being paid so many minutes each day. It is a US owned department store in Canada and they schedule us to be off by 5 pm but cashiers aren't allowed to leave until they have a replacement cashier and if it goes over 15 minutes, they aren't paid for that because they weren't scheduled for that. The company changes the time clock so it looks better to head office.

Re: Employer Changing Time Clock

Hi

You may have a case and be able to sue the company in the US were your case is stronger. What is the name of the company, how many employees are there, and how much money do you lose because you are not paid for that 15 minutes? How many employees would you estimate are affected by this?

Thanks for answering these questions.
