Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

The other women

my friend has had an affair it is now over, however she wants to tell his wife about the affair, he has said if she does he will loose everything, his home probably have to move back home with his mom. he just told my friend that he has talked with a lawyer and if she goes through with telling and disrupts and ruins his life that a lawyer can help with all of his legal options against my friend, is this true and what kind of legal options are those?

Unfortunately there isn't much that can be legally done to prevent anything being said to the wife. However, Colorado is a no fault divorce state, so even if the wife were to file for divorce, the affair would not have any effect on how property is divided up, maintenance, etc. The Judge is only concerned with dividing property up, and will not get into why the marriage broke up. Property will divided on an "equitable" basis which usually means it will be divided equally unless there is a sound reason for a disproportionate division - for example, if one of the parties incurred a lot of credit card debt, and the other spouse didn't benefit or know of the debt - in that case, the debt may get allocated to one spouse only.
