Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Colorado

What part of the process does the appeal address?

I was convicted of a restraining order violation because the DA had the transcript of a previous small claims court hearing where the plaintiff admitted certain facts ruled inadmissable. Since it was a misdameanor and I could not afford council, I had to defend myself. I have 30 days to appeal the process. Questions are 1, does the appeal only rule on the judge's handeling of the case, or does it review the entire case and if so what are my options?

It is rare that a client understands the limited nature of an appeal- that review may be limited to how the judge ruled during trial. BUT there are motions which can be filed that address the violation. What was the sentence for RO violation? Did you have counsel at the hearing for the underlying RO? I need to know more before I determine your options. -dan www.lawyerdan.com
