Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Colorado

Copyright and trademark infringement

I am interested in starting a clothing business in which the designs used on the clothing are ''look alike'' logos that resemble a national brand product but have a completely different name on them. For example, I have seen a shirt that had a logo on it that looked like the Snickers candy bar logo and where the word snickers was ment to be, the word ''Slacker'' was there. My question is whether or not I would need permission from other corporations to use their logo in a similar fashion as the Snickers logo was used. Also,if these corporations approve, will there be a fee? Or is this infringement if permission is not recieved?

Re: Copyright and trademark infringement

Attempting to piggyback off an established registered brand is trademark infringement and a deceptive trade practice.

If challenged, you will be penalized.

Major brands spend millions promoting their names - they do not lightly tolerate those who seek a free ride.

You are better advised to create your own logo and promote it in peace.
